Best Ottawa Wedding Venues
Our favourite wedding venues in Ottawa, all in one place
If you’re here, you’re probably in that exciting (and slightly overwhelming) stage of wedding planning, trying to find the place where everything will come together. We’ve been there with so many couples.
Over the years, we’ve photographed weddings all across Ottawa, from downtown venues full of character, to quiet outdoor spaces that feel like a hidden escape. And honestly, every venue has its own vibe. Some feel grand and timeless, some feel cozy and intimate, and some just have that “this is it” feeling the moment you walk in.
So instead of putting together just another “top venues” list, we wanted to share this more like we would with a friend.
These are places we’ve actually been to, worked at, and experienced firsthand, not just how they look, but how they feel on a wedding day. The light in the afternoon, how the space flows, where the best moments tend to happen… all the little things that don’t always show up online.
Ottawa is honestly such an underrated wedding city. You can have something modern, something surrounded by nature, something elegant, or something totally unique, and often all within a short drive.
Take your time going through this list. Save the ones you love. Imagine your day there.
And when something just clicks, you’ll know.
Adelina Barn is one of those places that feels like a little escape from the city, even though it’s only about a 20-minute drive from downtown Ottawa. What we love about this venue is how effortlessly everything flows. The barn itself is a beautiful two-storey open space with lots of natural light, and there’s a really nice balance between indoor and outdoor options. You can have your ceremony outside surrounded by nature, then move into the barn for a cozy, warm reception, it just works.
There’s a relaxed, rustic charm to it that never feels overdone. It’s simple in the best way, which makes it really easy to make the space your own.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where you don’t have to try too hard — the textures, the light, and the surroundings naturally come together to create really timeless images.
Ideal for: couples who love a more intimate, outdoor-focused wedding with a soft rustic feel
Aquatopia is one of those venues that feels completely different from anything else in Ottawa. The moment you step inside, it almost feels like you’ve left the city and walked into a tropical greenhouse. The entire space is surrounded by glass, filled with greenery, and flooded with natural light — which honestly makes such a difference throughout the day. Whether it’s your ceremony, portraits, or reception, everything just feels bright, airy, and alive.
One of the things we love most about Aquatopia is how consistent the light is. Even in the middle of winter, you still get that soft, glowing natural light that makes photos feel warm and timeless — without having to worry about the weather. The space itself is also really open and flexible, so it works beautifully whether you're planning something elegant, modern, or more relaxed and organic.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where everything just comes together naturally, you don’t need to overcomplicate anything. The setting already does so much for you.
Ideal for: couples who love greenery, natural light, and want that tropical, garden feel — especially perfect for winter weddings without sacrificing beautiful lighting
Brookstreet is one of those venues that’s really built for larger celebrations, especially if you're planning a full wedding day with everything in one place. Located in Kanata (about 20 minutes from downtown), it’s a boutique hotel with multiple ballroom options that feel polished and spacious without being overly formal. It’s a great fit if you have a bigger guest list and want everyone to feel comfortable, with plenty of room to celebrate.
One of the nice things about Brookstreet is how convenient everything is. You have ceremony, reception, and accommodations all in one location, which makes the day flow a lot more smoothly — especially for guests coming from out of town. There’s also an outdoor option at the Pavilion, and being right next to a golf course gives you access to some really nice greenery for photos without having to travel far.
From a photography perspective, this is a venue where planning the timeline and locations really makes a difference — but once everything is set up, it can create a really clean, elegant look that works beautifully for larger weddings.
Ideal for: couples planning a larger wedding who want a polished ballroom experience with everything in one convenient location
Château Laurier is one of those venues that almost feels iconic the moment you see it. Right in the heart of downtown Ottawa, it’s often called the city’s castle — and honestly, it lives up to that. The architecture, the historic details, the atmosphere… everything about it feels timeless and elevated. It’s the kind of place where your wedding instantly feels like an experience, not just an event.
There’s also a lot of flexibility here. Whether you're planning an indoor ceremony with that classic, elegant feel, or incorporating outdoor portraits around Parliament and the Rideau Canal, there are so many beautiful backdrops all within walking distance.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where the surroundings really do a lot of the work for you — the textures, the light, the historic charm — it all comes together in a way that feels effortlessly refined.
Ideal for: couples looking for a timeless, luxury wedding experience, especially those who love elegant indoor ceremonies with a classic, elevated feel
Evermore Weddings and Events
4960 County Rd 29, Almonte, ON K0A 1A0
Evermore is one of those venues that has layers to it — the kind you keep discovering throughout the day. Forty-five acres of rolling farmland, a restored barn originally built in the 1870s, and more spaces to explore than you can fit into a single timeline. It’s typically all-inclusive, which means the logistics are mostly handled so you can actually be present on your wedding day.
There’s also a detail I love sharing with couples: Evermore is the birthplace of Dr. James Naismith — the inventor of basketball. The Naismith house is where the wedding party gets ready on the morning of the wedding, and it also offers accommodation. So you’re literally starting your day inside a piece of Canadian history. That’s not something most venues can say.
From a photography standpoint, 45 acres means I’m never standing in one spot. Rolling fields, heritage architecture, soft country light — the variety here is genuinely hard to exhaust. It’s the kind of place where every direction you turn, there’s another frame worth making.
IDEAL FOR: rustic country weddings with a large guest count (80–100 minimum)
Lago is one of those venues that earns its reputation the moment you walk in. Sitting right on Dow’s Lake along the Rideau Canal, it’s one of the very few spots in Ottawa where you actually have the water in front of you — not just nearby, but right there through the floor-to-ceiling windows. That view doesn’t get old, whether you’re standing at the altar or seated at dinner.
The building itself has history — originally a boathouse built in 1931, home to canoe clubs and sea scouts before it became what it is today. That heritage still shows in the character of the space: the open-concept circular layout, the wraparound patio, the way the light moves through the room throughout the day. It’s a venue that feels genuinely Ottawa.
The outdoor balcony works beautifully for intimate ceremonies, while the indoor space handles larger gatherings with the lake as a constant backdrop. For us, the natural light pouring through those big windows makes the entire day easier to shoot — and the Arboretum next door gives you portrait options that most venues simply can’t offer. Waterfront, greenery, and a building full of character — all in one location.
IDEAL FOR: indoor ceremonies with a stunning waterfront view and smaller outdoor celebrations
Le Belvédère sits on a clifftop overlooking the Gatineau Hills, about 30 minutes north of Ottawa — and that view is genuinely hard to prepare for. Whether you’re standing at the ceremony site looking out over a wooded valley, or watching the light change over the hills during cocktail hour, there really isn’t another spot like it in the region.
The outdoor terrace holds up to 200 guests and works beautifully for both ceremonies and receptions. The design is open and airy, with the surrounding landscape doing most of the heavy lifting aesthetically. And the food — sourced partly from their own private 3-acre garden — is the kind of detail that guests still talk about weeks later.
We’ve shot here across different seasons, and autumn in particular is something else entirely. The Gatineau Hills in fall colour with that clifftop backdrop is one of those combinations that makes every frame feel effortless. If you’re even considering an October wedding, this is worth a serious look.
IDEAL FOR: outdoor ceremonies, autumn weddings, and couples who want to give their guests a genuine experience
The Lord Elgin has been part of downtown Ottawa for decades, and it wears that history well. There’s a certain old-school energy here — grand interiors, warm service, the kind of atmosphere that makes a wedding feel like an occasion rather than just an event. It’s right on Elgin Street, steps from Confederation Park, and the staff genuinely take care of their couples. Full package bookings include a complimentary night’s stay, and there are reduced rates for guests staying on-site.
The main space for weddings is the Banquet Hall, but the newly renovated Trillium Room is worth knowing about. We were lucky enough to photograph one of the very first real weddings held in that room — and the interior is stunning. Elegant finishes, great light, and views of Confederation Park right outside. It’s an intimate space (up to 40 guests) that feels designed for a wedding where every detail gets noticed.
For portraits, Confederation Park across the street gives you greenery and open space in the middle of the city. Combined with the urban texture of downtown Ottawa, you end up with a really natural mix of settings without ever needing to go far. Classic venue, classic neighbourhood — the photos tend to match.
IDEAL FOR: indoor banquet hall weddings with old school Hollywood vibes
Mill Street Brewery
https://millstreetbrewery.com/en/pubs/ottawa-brewpub
555 Wellington St, Ottawa, ON K1R 1C5
Mill Street Brewery is one of those venues that wins people over before the ceremony even starts. A 177-year-old building on Wellington Street, right on the Ottawa River, with parking on-site, genuinely great food, and local beer on tap. It has personality — the kind that comes from a building that’s actually been somewhere, not just designed to look like it has.
The event space is warm and intimate, and the surroundings outside are some of our favourites in the city. The Ottawa River views, the heritage architecture along Wellington Street, and — if timing is on your side — the cherry blossoms just steps from the venue in spring. We’ve had couples discover those on the day and completely change their portrait plans on the spot.
It’s an ideal fit for couples who want a relaxed, unpretentious wedding that still photographs beautifully — and where the guests are well taken care of at the bar. Good vibes, great beer, and a building with 177 years of stories behind it.
IDEAL FOR: beer lovers, foodies, and couples who want a venue with real character
