If you’re here, you’re probably in that exciting (and slightly overwhelming) stage of wedding planning, trying to find the place where everything will come together. We’ve been there with so many couples.
Over the years, we’ve photographed weddings all across Ottawa, from downtown venues full of character, to quiet outdoor spaces that feel like a hidden escape. And honestly, every venue has its own vibe. Some feel grand and timeless, some feel cozy and intimate, and some just have that “this is it” feeling the moment you walk in.
So instead of putting together just another “top venues” list, we wanted to share this more like we would with a friend.
These are places we’ve actually been to, worked at, and experienced firsthand, not just how they look, but how they feel on a wedding day. The light in the afternoon, how the space flows, where the best moments tend to happen… all the little things that don’t always show up online.
Ottawa is honestly such an underrated wedding city. You can have something modern, something surrounded by nature, something elegant, or something totally unique, and often all within a short drive.

Adelina Barn

Adelina Barn is one of those places that feels like a little escape from the city, even though it’s only about a 20-minute drive from downtown Ottawa. What we love about this venue is how effortlessly everything flows. The barn itself is a beautiful two-storey open space with lots of natural light, and there’s a really nice balance between indoor and outdoor options. You can have your ceremony outside surrounded by nature, then move into the barn for a cozy, warm reception, it just works.
There’s a relaxed, rustic charm to it that never feels overdone. It’s simple in the best way, which makes it really easy to make the space your own.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where you don’t have to try too hard — the textures, the light, and the surroundings naturally come together to create really timeless images.
Ideal for: couples who love a more intimate, outdoor-focused wedding with a soft rustic feel
Aquatopia

Aquatopia is one of those venues that feels completely different from anything else in Ottawa. The moment you step inside, it almost feels like you’ve left the city and walked into a tropical greenhouse. The entire space is surrounded by glass, filled with greenery, and flooded with natural light — which honestly makes such a difference throughout the day. Whether it’s your ceremony, portraits, or reception, everything just feels bright, airy, and alive.
One of the things we love most about Aquatopia is how consistent the light is. Even in the middle of winter, you still get that soft, glowing natural light that makes photos feel warm and timeless — without having to worry about the weather. The space itself is also really open and flexible, so it works beautifully whether you're planning something elegant, modern, or more relaxed and organic.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where everything just comes together naturally, you don’t need to overcomplicate anything. The setting already does so much for you.

Brookstreet Hotel

Brookstreet is one of those venues that’s really built for larger celebrations, especially if you're planning a full wedding day with everything in one place. Located in Kanata (about 20 minutes from downtown), it’s a boutique hotel with multiple ballroom options that feel polished and spacious without being overly formal. It’s a great fit if you have a bigger guest list and want everyone to feel comfortable, with plenty of room to celebrate.
One of the nice things about Brookstreet is how convenient everything is. You have ceremony, reception, and accommodations all in one location, which makes the day flow a lot more smoothly — especially for guests coming from out of town. There’s also an outdoor option at the Pavilion, and being right next to a golf course gives you access to some really nice greenery for photos without having to travel far.
From a photography perspective, this is a venue where planning the timeline and locations really makes a difference — but once everything is set up, it can create a really clean, elegant look that works beautifully for larger weddings.

Cheteau Laurier

Château Laurier is one of those venues that almost feels iconic the moment you see it. Right in the heart of downtown Ottawa, it’s often called the city’s castle — and honestly, it lives up to that. The architecture, the historic details, the atmosphere… everything about it feels timeless and elevated. It’s the kind of place where your wedding instantly feels like an experience, not just an event.
There’s also a lot of flexibility here. Whether you're planning an indoor ceremony with that classic, elegant feel, or incorporating outdoor portraits around Parliament and the Rideau Canal, there are so many beautiful backdrops all within walking distance.
From a photography perspective, this is one of those venues where the surroundings really do a lot of the work for you — the textures, the light, the historic charm — it all comes together in a way that feels effortlessly refined.
